Disease Resistant Bacteria

Disease Resistant Bacteria (DRB) are bacteria that have evolved to resist the effects of penicillin and other pharmaceuticals that we have used to control them.  This is a huge issue because we have less and less treatment options against these strains of bacteria.

Even the gene fragments that exist when these bacteria are killed are sometimes a threat to humans because they can be picked up by benign bacteria and gain some of the resistance of the original strain.
