Curtains

Curtains that are mounted over the face of the window frame can be good or bad. If air can move freely behind the curtain it can carry heat to the window and cause a net heat loss. However, if the curtain is sealed at the bottom (and preferably the top) they can be effective insulators. For this reason the temperature of the curtains is not a good indicator of the effectiveness of the curtain as an insulator.
