It is calculated that a 3 ton/hr dryer unit could be built into a shipping container. The plenum for the dryer gas would be just above the floor, with the exhaust gas flowing to the outlet just above the beds. Variable vents along the plenum sides would add cold air to create the falling temperature profile of the dryer gas. Control of the transverse slot openings is also required. In an industrial setting low temperature waste heat may be available for the lower temperature back-end beds.
Further work is required to define the spacing of the transverse slots, and the angle requirements of the beds. The whole unit could be pivoted from one end to control this aspect. The method to control the level of chips in each bed needs further investigation, although several methods appear possible.
